Many people migrated to Kayamkulam due to the commercial importance of the place, in first million. On that time there was no church at Kayamkulam and people went upto Kadampanad to worship. Meanwhile two arab Bishops Mar Sapro and Mar Prod came to kayamkulam and constructed a church, which is replaced by the present Kadeesa church. A part of Christians under the leadership of three priests Rev. Thoma Kathanar also known as Thekkelachan, Yohannan Kathanar of Kulathinte Kizhakethil from Paruthimoottil and Mani Kathanar of Cheravally, Kurathikad joined with the reformation group took place in Malankara Church. They used a revisedliturgy for worship in churches on special Sundays and on other Sundays in houses and schools.
